Sleep your way to weight loss!

Written By Bruce Chiropractic Center on August 26, 2015

Good Morning Everyone!

Do we actually need less sleep?  Well, it depends on how heavy you want to be.  In a report by CNN, sleep time was studied on how it affects genetic vs. environmental influences over weight gain.  The results were interesting:  those who get under 7 hours of sleep per night can attribute 70% of weight trouble to genetic reasons.... and those who get 9 or more hours of sleep per night can attribute only 32% of weight trouble to genetics.
There's some science to the explanation of that, but it's kinda boring.  So let's just skip to the take home message from this CNN report:

Take Home Message:  If you get 9+ hours of sleep per night, you will have more control over your body's ability to gain weight.  If you sleep less than 7 hours, then you are leaving your body's weight gain up to the genes from your ancestors.

*I'm more of a control freak, so if it was up to me (which it's not right now with our new addition coming at home:), I would get the extra sleep so that I could have more control.
